Goodbye Daisy

RIP, Daisy Sprockett. We miss you. Thanks for all the fun times we shared with you. And for the love you gave us.

Mr and Mrs Servant.

Biting the hand that feeds

Mrs Servant is cross with me today.

It's because I bit her hand when she was asleep. Well, her hand was right next to me and I couldn't resist sinking my teeth into it.

I'm not quite sure why she made such a fuss. It was only the one bite. And it's not as if I bite her every day.

Playing it safe

I decided to play it safe today and sleep on the green cover. Less risk of being sat upon. So far, Mr Servant hasn't thrown me off.

Camouflage

These days, I spend quite a bit of time getting some well-earned rest on The Servants' bed. I'm white and so is the duvet cover. This is a double-edged sword.

It means I'm nicely camouflaged so Mr Servant can't tell me to get off. However, this morning I was so well camouflaged that he sat on me.

A brand new cable!

Mrs Servant doesn't buy me many presents - I usually get one a year, along with some cream. And today I got a brand new cable. It's just what I wanted because, firstly, I love chewing cables. And, secondly, my old one was a bit chewed out.

The new puppy

There's a new puppy that's just moved into our complex and, not surprisingly, Mrs Servant thinks he's wonderful. I don't. A puppy turns into a dog. And, even worse, he looks like a small wolf*.

So I kept my distance when he was by MY front door earlier today. But I have to say that the treats he was being fed did smell rather tasty, so I decided to brave it and edge forward. Slowly. The puppy's owner gave me one of the treats and it was delicious. Not quite sure why it was shaped like a bone, though.

*Note from Mrs Servant: the puppy is a husky.

I am not a set of handweights

Mr Servant has clearly decided he needs to exercise. But I'm not quite sure why he has to use ME as his 'heavy weights'. I can see some proper hand weights lying around the place but he still prefers to use me. So undignified.

Taking my medicine

I haven't been too well over the winter. In fact, I've been to that Horrible Vet too many times recently. I know exactly what's happening as soon as the nasty cage comes out of the cupboard. The last couple of times, I was trussed up in a towel to go there - but I still knew where I was going.

Mrs Servant thinks she can slip my medicine into my food without my realising. But I have my beady eye on her when she's preparing my meals. I can see exactly how she's doctoring my food. And she thinks I can't taste it!

On the plus side, I do get a rather tasty treat once a day, so that sort of makes up for it. I suppose. Anyhow, now I'm feeling better I don't see why I still need to take my medicine. Let's hope there are no more trips to That Place.

A long, cold winter

I've spent the winter months in semi hibernation. Too cold to go out and too nice and cosy in the flat. So the choice was easy. Snooze in the warmth all day long. Especially by the radiator in the hall or on the Servants' bed. Then, when it does get sunny, I decamp to the sitting room and bask in the sun's rays.

A bowl of cream

I was given a delicious bowl of cream today. It must be a special occasion of some sort, as I only seem to be given cream about once a year.

Nasty stuff for breakfast

I don' t like it when Mr Servant gets up first and gives me my breakfast. He always give me that Nasty Stuff first and then makes me eat it all up before he gives me my Tasty Biscuits.

When Mrs Servant gives me breakfast, she mixes the two up. So I pick out the Tasty Biscuits, eat the gravy, and leave all the Nasty Stuff in the bowl.

Where's my bed?

My comfy, trusted bed disappeared yesterday. I tried looking for it but it really wasn't anywhere to be seen. Luckily I was able to sprawl in the sun on the carpet and then loaf on one or other of the Servants' laps.

But always in the back of my mind was: "Where is my nice warm bed?"

Anyhow, it turned up today. Back in the same place as if nothing had happened. However, it smells all funny - it doesn't smell of me at all any more. And it's not the same colour. It used to be a nice pale grey and now it's white.

I've decided I won't sleep in it.

Duck food - yum

Two ducks have appeared on the small pond near where I live and Mrs Servant has been feeding them special duck food.

It may be food for ducks but I think it's absolutely yummy. Even nicer than the treats I get. (And I didn't think there WAS anything tastier than my treats.)

A new relation?

How cool is that? Just found out there's an interactive design agency with my surname: Orange Sprocket

I wonder if we're related? I wonder if they like tuna fish just as much as I do?

Where's my lunch?

I make it very obvious that I'm ravenous but The Servants just don't seem to get the hint.

Putting the boot in

The Servants know perfectly well that my favourite spot in the winter is lazing by the radiator in the hall. So why do they put their walking boots there so I can't snooze in peaceful radiator heaven?

I wish they'd tidy up a bit. There's hardly any room for me.

Mini photo album

Mrs Servant has found a site she's rather pleased with. So, um, better indulge her and click this link....

Will I get fed?

I get slightly unnerved when Mrs Servant is out for the evening. You see, I can never be exactly sure that Mr Servant will give me any food. Sometimes he forgets.

So I'm always very relieved when I hear Mrs Servant coming up the stairs and the front door opens.

Not being a dog, I don't wag my tail and bark enthusiastically. But, secretly, I am very pleased.

I don't like having my tail washed

Yesterday I had to suffer the indignity of having my tail washed. They know perfectly well I HATE water in any shape or form. And anyhow, I'm quite happy to have dirty marks on my tail.

I must say, though, that it IS rather soft and silky now that it's been shampooed.

Breakfast an hour late

Yesterday Mr Servant gave me my breakfast an hour later than normal. And, today, Mrs Servant was also an hour late. Don't they realise I get hungry first thing and my tummy rumbles like mad if I don't get fed on time?
